Early Dismissal, Friday, Oct. 9

Posted Date: 10/06/26 (06:00 PM)

This Friday, October 9, will be a half-day for students as we hold our Superintendent's Conference Day. It will also serve as our district’s early dismissal drill.

  • CVA and Jarvis dismiss at 10:42 a.m.
  • Barringer and Fisher dismiss car riders at 10:50 a.m. and the first wave of buses begin loading at 10:55 a.m..
The purpose of this drill is to practice what would happen if an emergency ever required us to dismiss students earlier than scheduled or use a different dismissal procedure. Some of our buildings will practice different procedures based on their individual needs and dismissal processes.

While we certainly hope we never need to use these procedures in a real emergency, it is important that our staff and students have an opportunity to practice. This helps our staff understand their responsibilities and helps us identify anything we may need to improve before we ever face an actual emergency.

We also want this to be a reminder to our families to have a plan in place for your children in the event that we ever need to bring students home unexpectedly. An emergency early dismissal may not look exactly like a normal school day, and having a plan ahead of time can make a difficult situation much easier for everyone.

Thank you to our staff and families for helping us make emergency preparedness a priority. Being prepared is something we hope we never need, but it is something we should always take seriously.

Thunder Strong.
